Get Your Buying Journey Started

Buying a home is a very exciting time in your life. It can also feel stressful or overwhelming, with all the unknowns and expectations. But you don’t have to go through it alone or unprepared. The New Home Buyer Checklist will walk you through the entire process of buying a new home. From discussing with your partner about what you want out of a house to understanding what happens on closing day – we’ve got everything covered for you! The checklist contains everything you need to prepare for a first time home buyer loan before you even begin house hunting.

Step 1: Have the Home Buying “Talk”

Have that home-buying talk with your partner or spouse (or yourself!) about what you are looking for in a home so that you can zero in on the right homes when the time comes. You may want to consider your commute, the school district, or what you’ll do if one of you decides to change jobs.

Also, consider the type of home you want to buy, such as a condo or single family. Discuss what features are important to you. Energy efficiency, a specific floor plan, or the number of bedrooms and bathrooms?

Don’t forget to have an honest conversation about a monthly mortgage budget. This will be important later as you will need to communicate this to your lender as part of the loan consult.
